Currently we are only able to update Medical History but still can't update medications and allergies. We often get patient application and can't enter most important health information until the day of the consult/patient encounter. Would like to be able to enter medications since most patients have long list of medications and then we can just change the date to the date of consult after verifying and confirming with patients. This is even more important for returning patients. Currently, we would have to discontinue all the medications and reenter all of them. This takes so much time and gave us the most stress. The worst part is that our EHR would be littered by medications from other places that we can't erase or delete to keep our profile clean. Would suggest for any medication that are prescribed from other providers or after surgery to be stored in another category where we can look at if we need to or allow us to delete them instead of having to figure out all the ones that are duplicate or from somewhere else to be deleted after merging into narratives. As for allergies, it is the same problem. Patients often put side effects as allergies and we cannot change the information therefore, we will have to wait to enter all these information until after confirming with patients. If we can enter in advance and made changes, then we won't have all the crossing outs and misinformation because we can't go back to change it. EHR is supposed to be clean and accurate and medical personnel are the ones who would need to have quality narratives and EHR to do our job. Programs are supposed to help us to be more efficient and accurate not to limit our ability to enter in advance and then give us the opportunity to change and delete as needed since we are the ones who have to verify and confirm information from patients.
